Eldoret is the principal city in the Rift Valley region of Kenya and is also the capital of Uasin Gishu County in Kenya. It is currently the fastest growing city in Kenya, as well as the fifth-largest city in the country, and is home to over 300,000 inhabitants. Eldoret developed in the midst of the farms of Afrikaner settlers, with the site of the town growing between 1910 and 1912, when it earned its name after becoming an administrative center. The town has a storied history of division between Afrikaans and British settlers. It was later greatly developed by former President Daniel Arap Moi, who established the country’s second university, Moi University in 1984. The city has a temperate oceanic climate, wherein temperatures fall significantly at night, going into single digits during the cold season (May-August). The economy is driven by large-scale grain farming, dairy and horticultural farming, heavily influenced by the prime agricultural land surrounding Eldoret. It equally has a vibrant textile industry.

Eldoret has several landmarks that serve the town’s reputation, for example, the Champions Monument, the Eldoret Daima Plaza, Sirikwa Holes, Wagon Hotel, and athletic training centers. It is also home to a few notable health facilities, such as the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. The city possesses adequate transport infrastructure, like the Eldoret International Airport. The Kenya-Uganda railway also serves the city. A pipeline operated by the Kenya Pipeline Company passes through the city. The presence of several higher institutions offers aspiring candidates the possibility to thrive in an environment equipped to handle their education needs.
