The Bachelor degree programme in Sociology and Religion offers a combination of humanistic and social science knowledge required in human attitude formation necessary for personnel management and policy development in society.
The main objectives of the BA in Sociology an Religion programme are:
i) To educate and expose students to issues relating to socio-religious development of humanity;
ii) To train and provide expertise in areas of moral and social issues affecting families, governments and other institutions such as UNICEF, UNEP etc
iii) To provide properly trained and skilled personnel in the work place, market and socio-religious institutions in need of managers, and policy makers;
iv) To enable the students to pursue post-graduate studies in religion or sociology.
Course Structure and Duration
i) This programme is designed for students wishing to combine Religion and Sociology
ii) The programme requires a minimum of 120 CFs and a maximum of 144 CFs including the Common Core Courses and courses borrowed from other disciplines. Students will be required to take a minimum of 60 CFs and a maximum of 66 CFs from each department.
iii) The programme will be covered by full-time students in four (4) academic years. Part time students will be allowed to complete the course within eight (8) academic years.
All examinations for this programme shall be conducted in accordance with examination regulations as stipulated in the Egerton University Statute XXVIII.
The grading of examinations for this programme shall be conducted in accordance with Egerton University Statute XXVIII
To graduate a student shall be required to take and pass ALL scheduled courses within the stipulated period.
Degree classification shall be in accordance with Egerton University Statute XXV111.
i) Applicant must satisfy the general Egerton University admission requirements.
ii) In addition, applicants must have obtained a minimum score of C+ in Social Education and Ethics/Christian Religious Education, Geography or History.

– Certified copies of your Result Slip, Certificates and Transcripts.
– ORIGINAL RECEIPT (Application Fee): KShs. 2,000 for ALL Degree Programmes and Kshs. 1,000 for all Undergraduate Diploma Programmes: Payable to; Account Name; Egerton University, Kenya Commercial Bank; Account No:1108550703.
– Copy of your National ID Card or Birth Certificate.

– The application will be complete once all the necessary fees have been paid.

– The application form must be fully filled and the relevant academic documents attached. It must be returned to the admissions office of the university according to the deadline set by the admissions office.
It provides managerial skills to its graduates in handling social issues such as ethics, marriage, nepotism; tribalism; human rights; child labour; unemployment; among others.
In addition, it equips the graduates with tools in the challenging dialogue between faith and culture; between the church and society; between the kingdom of God and the temporal realities through which the human family moves towards its destiny.
The programme thus offers a wide range of opportunities to its graduates in the job market especially in church, governmental and nongovernmental organizations dealing with human welfare.

Tuition Fees for International Students = Kshs. 130,000
**EAC (East African Community) Students pay the same amount as Kenyan students. Countries in the East African Community include; Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.
– Foreign students out of the East African Community pay 30% more that the Kenyan students.
