Programme Overview

In complex business environments organisations depend upon capable leadership to guide them through unprecedented change. Coaching has become a critical strategy for leadership development to build a leader’s capabilities to achieve professional and organisational goals.

Despite increasing popularity, the majority of coaching training programmes provides little evidence of scientific rigour and professional competence. Our Master’s degree in Leadership Coaching provides a platform for you to develop applied competence at an advanced level in providing professional leadership coaching interventions.

This will be done by developing the competences of contracting, assessing needs, constructing development plans, delivering individual and team coaching sessions and the evaluation of the impact of different coaching interventions through course work and supervised practical coaching.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop at an advanced level the applied competence of the student in providing professional leadership coaching interventions.

This will be done by developing the competences of contracting, assessing needs, constructing development plans, delivering individual and team coaching sessions and the evaluation of the impact of different coaching interventions through a Number of Modules/Credits.

Through a minor dissertation, the student will show evidence of scientific research and the ability to reflect on the holistic context of leadership coaching. The programme will further provide a personal development experience in becoming a competent and professional leadership coach meeting ethical guidelines and professional standards.

We aim to deliver Professional Leadership Coaches who are able to:
• Operate as competent and professional Business, Leadership and Executive coaches
• Deliver evidence-based coaching practices meeting ethical guidelines and professional standards
• Build leader’s capabilities to achieve personal, professional and organisational goals
• Evaluate the impact of coaching interventions
• Develop an authentic style of coaching

Admission Requirements

A relevant Honours degree in psychology, industrial/organisational psychology, human resources management, leadership, management and other degrees where the focus was either on human behaviour or leadership/management.

Student number constraints may necessitate a selection process consisting of selection interviews, psychometric testing and a research exercise.

Tuition Fees for South African Students: $2,255
Tuition Fees for SADC and African Students: $2,438

*The normal Tuition Fees for South African Students is R37,389

35% of the tuition fees need to be paid by April, and 100% by July.

All students must pay at least R3,870 before they begin their studies while students residing on campus will need to pay at least R6,470 before the begin.

*In addition to normal tuition fees, students from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) member countries and other African Countries pay a non-refundable ICT levy, a registration fee, and a non-refundable international levy of R2,000.

*In addition to normal tuition fees, students from the rest of the world (outside Africa) pay a non-refundable ICT levy, a registration fee, plus a non-refundable international levy of R17,000

The SADC member countries are Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

For International Students:

International Student Tuition Fees = Normal Tuition Fee (R37,389) + International Levy (R2,000) + ICT Levy (R430) +Registration Fee (R610) = R40,429‬
-an upfront payment of 30% of tuition fees should be paid at registration.
-then 35% of the tuition fees should be paid by next 30 April.
-and the final 35% of the tuition fees should be paid by 31 July.
The University will offer a 5% discount should all fees be paid at registration.
Fees generally increase between 5 and 15 percent per year. Please contact the University in December to obtain the approved fees for the 2021 academic year.
