Why study Bachelor of Laws (LLB)?
This newly designed Bachelor of Law (LLB) offered at IIE MSA and recently added to our programme offering, is aligned to industry, with well-defined priorities to guarantee relevance while addressing the needs of society. There is a growing need for multi-dimensional graduates with the ability to participate in an increasingly complex and dynamic local and global economy. The qualification follows on a first undergraduate degree with sufficient law-related credits and its aim is to produce competent, skilled and dynamic legal graduates, equipped with a firm knowledge and understanding of the relevant legal principles.

The IIE Bachelor of Laws offered at The IIE MSA is aligned to industry, with well-defined priorities to guarantee relevance while addressing the needs of society. There is a growing need for multi-dimensional graduates with the ability to participate in an increasingly complex and dynamic local and global economy.

This LLB qualification follows on a first undergraduate degree with sufficient law-related credits and its aim is to produce competent, skilled and dynamic legal graduates, equipped with a firm knowledge and understanding of the relevant legal principles. The qualification provides a critical understanding of theories, concepts, principles, ethics, perspectives, methodologies and procedures of the discipline of law. Graduates of this qualification will also hold in high regard their duty to contribute meaningfully to the development of the local and global society and economy.

Graduates of this LLB degree will attain a coherent understanding of, and ability to, critically analyse fundamental legal concepts, principles, theories and their relationship to values. They will furthermore attain the requisite methods, techniques and strategies pertaining to legal research and problem solving in both theoretical and practical scenarios.

What is this Degree’s accreditation status?
The IIE Bachelor ofLaws is accredited by the Council on Higher Education (CHE) and is registered by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) as a 255-credit qualification on level 8(SAQA ID: 97933).

Who is the Bachelor’s degree aimed at?
The IIE Bachelor of Laws is aimed at graduates who would like to contribute meaningfully to the development of the local and global society. The LLBis led by the latest industry discoveries and trends, which prepare the graduatefor the world of work. Graduates of this programme are to be lifelong learners, capable of completing tasks and address problems that, while well defined, have a measure of complexity.

Admission Requirements

Minimum Admission Requirements
An appropriate HEQSF Level 7 Bachelor’s degree and completed all 7 relevant prerequisite Law subjects. Introduction to law, Constitutional law, Contract law, Criminal law, Bill of rights, Law of persons and Law of family

International Students
– A SAQA Evaluation Certificate with NQF L7 equivalence in an appropriate field AND have completed all 7 relevant prerequisite Law subjects.
– A student with an HEQSF Level 7 or equivalent qualification that does not have all 7 of the Law subjects listed above may be admitted, subject to the completion of additional modules. (Introduction to law, Constitutional law, Contract law, Criminal law, Bill of rights, Law of persons and Law of family)

To Apply for a place at the IIE MSA, follow the steps below:
STEP ONE: Select your programme, confirm that you meet the Local or International academic requirements and the English language requirements for the programme you’d like to study.
STEP TWO: You are required to upload a copy of your SA ID document or International Passport in order for your Application to be processed.
STEP THREE: Arrange for payment of your non-refundable R 400.00 application fee which you will be required to pay before your application is processed.
STEP FOUR: The final stage is to Apply Online

This degree will open up an attractive range of career options; this degree is a perfect steppingstone to a diverse and exciting range of career opportunities. In order to register as an attorney or advocate, additional professional requirements exist.

A law degree does not limit graduates to pursuing careers as attorneys or advocates. There are many and varied career options available to law graduates. Examples are as follows: legal advisors, judicial officers such as prosecutors and magistrates, academics, and many more.

Tuition fees per year for South African Students = R99,900
Tuition fees per year for International Students = R106,400
*International students registering for the first time at IIE MSA will be subject to an International Student Levy of R6,500 payable upon registration.
*Students are advised to pay their deposit on/before registration and the balance by the published payment due date. Alternative a payment arrangement can be applied for before the 28 February 2021.
