Programme Overview

The programme is of interest to those wishing to be soil surveyors, irrigated crop agronomists, land evaluators, physical planners, environmental impact assessors, land resources managers, land use planners and policy managers in land use planning, both in private and public sectors.  Graduates will be eligible for registration in professional bodies engaged in land use planning, irrigated agriculture and environmental monitoring and evaluation.

Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements
AGR 1: No candidate shall be admitted to the Faculty of Agriculture without satisfying the  minimum entry requirements of the university

AGR 2: Candidates must also satisfy faculty regulations and departmental requirements before registering for courses in any department in the faculty.

In addition to the AGR 1 and AGR 2 above the candidates are expected to:
(a)    Have a minimum aggregate of C+ (Plus) in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and should have a minimum grade of C (plain) in each of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics/Physics/Geography OR C (plain) in each of the following subjects: Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Mathematics/Geography and C (plain) in English/Kiswahili, or 3rd Group II subject, or a Group III subject, or any Group IV or any Group V.

(b)    Alternatively, admission may also be granted to candidates with a diploma in agriculture, horticulture, agricultural engineering, forestry, earth sciences and related disciplines from a recognized institution or its equivalent.

(c)    Candidates admitted under AGR 3 (b) above with credit pass and above may be admitted into the second year of study, while those with pass will be admitted in into the first year of study.

(d)    For candidates admitted under Joint Admission Board (JAB), JAB will fix cut-off points for each admission year.

Application Requirements for qualified students:
– A dully filled registration form – to be obtained from the offices/website upon payment of non-refundable fee.
– Two passport size photos.
– Copies of relevant certificates

3. Proceed on with filling the application form, ensuring all mandatory fields are filled, attach photocopies of required certificates and submit when done.
Note:
– You will be required to present certified copies of the relevant certificates, Result slips, National Identity Card, Birth Certificate for verifications when reporting.
– IT Department will call or send an SMS to request successful candidates to pick An official admission letter.

Tuition Fees for Kenyan and East Africa Community Students: $1,666

Tuition Fees for Kenyan Students = Kshs183,368
Tuition Fees for International Students = Kshs220,041
**EAC (East African Community) Students pay the same amount as Kenyan students. Countries in the East African Community include; Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.
NOTE: The tuition fees charged, may vary from programme to programme and from time to time, with foreign students paying 20% more that the Kenyan students.
