Why study the Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resource Management?
Studying Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resource Management will help students to gain fundamental knowledge, skills and competencies of the process of managing people in organisations. The programme also prepares students for managerial roles that contribute in their workplace towards improving and enhancing organisational culture, productivity, engagement, and development.

The IIE Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resource Management (BCom HRM) provides candidates with a thorough theoretical grounding and knowledge base in the key principles of human resource management. In addition, the programme is a versatile qualification aimed at developing competencies in hiring, training, development and general people skills. Furthermore, students are expected to demonstrate the strategic link between human resource management and other organisational functional areas as well as the corporate strategy. In a context of intense competition and fast- changing business conditions, placing employees into the right jobs; ensuring proper and appropriate training, motivation, and development; and monitoring and improving performance, all directly enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of organisations.

This BCom HRM degree is aimed at students with a keen interest in human resource management, intending to occupy or occupying, junior or middle positions and aspiring towards senior management positions in private, public and non-profit organisations. Such learners would have had no or limited previous exposure to the theoretical underpinnings of human resource management.

Who is the Bachelor’s degree aimed at?

How is this Bachelor’s degree structured at The IIE MSA?
The IIE Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resource Managementdegree is a three-year degree. The academic year runs from February to November. The modules are delivered on a full-time basis with lectures and tutorials being scheduled during the day from Monday to Friday. Please note that in line with academic practice, The IIE’s curriculum is reviewed annually thus changes may occur in module structure and sequence in order to ensure that the qualification remains relevant. The exit level outcomes of the programme do not change. Registered students receive an updated programme curriculum on an annual basis.

National Senior Certificate (NSC)
Bachelor pass with English (50%) and Mathematics (50%) or Mathematical Literacy (70%)

Senior Certificate (SC)
Endorsement with English (50%) and Mathematics HG (50%) or Mathematics SG (70%)

International Students
They have to present a USAf Exemption Certificate to degree studies is required and meeting the relevant Maths and English requirements or requisite English test e.g. TOEFL, IELS

To Apply for a place at the IIE MSA, follow the steps below:
STEP ONE: Select your programme, confirm that you meet the Local or International academic requirements and the English language requirements for the programme you’d like to study.
STEP TWO: You are required to upload a copy of your SA ID document or International Passport in order for your Application to be processed.
STEP THREE: Arrange for payment of your non-refundable R 400.00 application fee which you will be required to pay before your application is processed.
STEP FOUR: The final stage is to Apply Online

*International students registering for the first time at IIE MSA will be subject to an International Student Levy of R6,500 payable upon registration.
*Students are advised to pay their deposit on/before registration and the balance by the published payment due date. Alternative a payment arrangement can be applied for before the 28 February 2021.
