OTHER NON-SOUTH AFRICAN EXAMINATIONS

School-leaving subjects MUST include Mathematics.

Applicants from some countries (eg Angola and DRC) must have completed the first year of a four-year degree programme at a university in their country of origin before applying to UCT.

Applicants with only O-Level and/or IGCSE subjects need to complete the first year of a four-year degree programme at a university in their country of origin, before applying to the UCT.

Applications will be assessed on an individual basis. Meeting the above minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Admission may be limited due to available capacity.

Application Process
Application Fees for South African & SADC Students: $6
Application Fees for International Students: $18

Apply online

You will need a working email address and your South African identity number. If you are an international applicant, you need your passport number.

Applications close

31 July of the year prior to study for South African and international applicants.

Application status

Check your application status online or follow the directions on your letter from the admissions office in order to log in and determine your application status. Should you not have received your login and password, you may also use your names and birth date.

Career Opportunities

Electrical and electronic engineers work in many organisations and companies, including private consultation firms and development laboratories, large and small private enterprises involved with the design, development, production, and marketing of electronic systems, subsystems, and components of products, as well as in government.

Graduates of the mechatronics programme can be found building underwater robots, designing artificial intelligence software to identify faulty machinery, designing new packaging systems for bottled beverages, and developing diagnostic systems for the next generation of motor vehicles.
