Programme Overview

A major aim of the Masters of Art in Development Studies programme is to equip the graduate with an awareness of society and its problems and of the ways in which he/she can help to solve these. The programmes provide orientations that will enable the graduate to be innovative and provide intelligent leadership in a rapidly changing society.

The School of School of Humanities and Social Sciences offers  Master’s programmes in various areas. There are approximately 2,200 students in the School. Of these, about 42 per cent are females. In addition, the School caters for approximately 460 students who are registered for courses through Distance Education.

Admission Requirements

The applicant must possess:
– Any Relevant Bachelors Degree in Education or Social Sciences from The University of Zambia or any recognized institution with Major in Development Studies
– Minimum of Credit of at Least 18 Points or Upper Second Division or Equivalent.

Completed application forms should be accompanied by a payment of  a non-refundable application fee of K150.00 for Zambians and US$60.00 for non-Zambians.
