A major aim of the Masters of Art in Defence and Security Studies programme is to equip the graduate with an awareness of society and its problems and of the ways in which he/she can help to solve these. The programmes provide orientations that will enable the graduate to be innovative and provide intelligent leadership in a rapidly changing society.
The School of School of Humanities and Social Sciences offers Master’s programmes in various areas. There are approximately 2,200 students in the School. Of these, about 42 per cent are females. In addition, the School caters for approximately 460 students who are registered for courses through Distance Education.
The applicant must possess:
(i) A Bachelor’s degree from the University of Zambia or a recognized Institution of higher learning; or
(ii) Relevant military or Defence and security qualifications such as PSC (passed staff college) and Diploma in Defence and Security Studies which have been appropriately accredited by the Defence Services Command and Staff College provided that he/she has accumulated at least three years of relevant experience in the security sector.
