Programme Overview

Bachelor of Community Economic Development (BCED) is a three-year programme designed to enable graduate deal with complex issues in the national and international community economic development. Graduates in this programme are able to perform economic functions in community development.

The programme equips graduates with a blend of community development knowledge and skills and it enables them to uphold ethics relevant to community economic development. The programme is addressing both global and national professional requirements for best practices in community economic development and inculcating entrepreneurial attitudes.

On completion of the programme, graduates will be able to manage viable community economic development projects and programmes; Communicate effectively using variety of media and reporting formats used in community development; Use appropriate project and programme designing methods for community development; prepare fundraising plan for financing community projects and programmes; evaluate community economic development projects and programmes performance; and apply laws and policies related to community economic development.

Moreover, candidates should be able to: Solve Community economic development related challenges timely; communicate orally and in a written forms; Make awareness and sensitization of Community economic development projects; design Community economic development projects and programmes promotion strategies; work effectively within a team and collaborate with others; take individual initiatives to make decisions and effectively manage community resources as well as projects/programmes; carryout public relation through members interactions in the community as well as initiate and monitoring of community economic development projects through community participation.

Admission Requirements

Minimum Entry Qualifications
For direct entry, applicants should have Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education with at least two principal passes in Economics, Accountancy, Mathematics, Commerce, History, English, Kiswahili, Geography, Physics, Biology or Chemistry. For equivalent entry, applicants should have any ordinary diploma obtained from a recognised institution.

– An application form which costs 30,000TZS or 30USD has to be obtained from the school.

*Prepare a scanned birth certificate for uploading to the system
*Candidate is required to have a working personal email address
*Candidate is required to scan his or her certificate
